Wichita Linemen from the Black Lagoon, Misty Roses are Jonny Perl (instruments/programming) and Robert Conroy (voices/words).
Puce Woman / Queen Cobra is a carnivalesque celebration of two of American cinema’s most brilliantly occultic orgiastic film-makers. Puce Woman (for Kenneth Anger) opens with playfully demonic noirish orchestration before spiralling into a gaudy whirlwind of madness and mirror balls, pivoting on a repetitiously deranged organ line. Queen Cobra (for Jack Smith) is an explosion of ripped Technicolor speed-glam guitar and electronic chatter, Roxy Bowie dining out with a flapper devil 30 years from now.
Their unique thematics and approach to structure are a parallel universe where song and soundscape break down and merge – these are pop songs painted by Fulci in Mareinbad.
Misty Roses are interviewed in the forthcoming (October) Bizarre Magazine and have just completed an interview with Dangerous Minds which is linked below in the reviews section.
